NEW SUMMER, NEW POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS
For anyone who may have volunteered with Altoona Kids Café before, we understand that you may have some questions about how our volunteer policies and expectations have been upgraded for this year. In an effort to continuously improve our program for both participants and volunteers, it is necessary for us to adopt stricter policies for both registered students and all volunteers in order to provide the best experience possible for everyone. All students must be pre-registered for the program and all volunteers are asked to complete a brief volunteer application, an online background check and attend a volunteer meeting before the first day of Altoona Kids Café 2017. Also, any adult volunteer who plans to bring their own child (under age 15) to the program when they volunteer, must register their student to attend the program so we have all necessary information to accommodate every child in the appropriate age group. By ensuring that all volunteers who work with Altoona Kids Café are well trained and ready to serve, we can provide the best possible program for our students. If you have questions regarding changes to volunteer expectations or student registration, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you.
UNDER 15 YEAR-OLD VOLUNTEERS
Due to the growth of our program and our desire to ensure that all participating students have a positive experience in our program and are supervised by adults, we are unable to accommodate volunteers under the age of 15 unless they have made special arrangements with Kids Café leaders to volunteer in a specific capacity or as part of a groups (i.e. church youth, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, neighborhood).
Students under 15 who would like to volunteer should contact Swerve Outreach at email@example.com to inquire about other volunteer opportunities-such as our Backpack & School supply drive held in late July & early August OR other organizational program activities OR they can CLICK HERE to receive UNDER 15 VOLUNTEER INFORMATION.
If your student is between the ages of 15-18, we welcome them to sign up to volunteer as lunch helpers or to work with our younger students (Pre K-5thgrade). We do ask that all volunteers under 18 receive parent permission to volunteer by having a parent or legal guardian sign their volunteer form before submission.
